Donald Anderson, Baron Anderson of Swansea

Donald Anderson, Baron Anderson of Swansea, PC, DL (born 17 June 1939, Swansea), is a British Labour Party politician, who was a Member of Parliament for Monmouth from 1966 to 1970 and Swansea East from 1974 to 2005.
Anderson was educated at Brynmill Primary School in Swansea, Swansea Grammar School (now known as Bishop Gore School) and Swansea University.
He was one of the longest-serving Members of Parliament in the UK in recent years, his service totaling 34 years. He retired from Parliament at the 2005 general election. On 13 May 2005 it was announced that he would be created a life peer, and on 28 June 2005 he was created Baron Anderson of Swansea, of Swansea in the County of West Glamorgan. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of West Glamorgan in February 2006.
From 1971 to 1974 he was a Labour councillor in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.
